Alka Jo(d)ined Sanu and Sonu

Of the four tracks from Jodi No. 1 on this blog, two were composed by Himesh Reshammiya. The title track of the film – which marked another collaboration between the music director and his then-frequent jodidaar in rhyme, Sudhakar Sharma – was one of them.

The song, which described a number of things that are usually paired (such as payal and ghunghroo), wasn’t rendered by a jodi, but by a trio.

The two men, whose names are just a letter apart (Kumar Sanu and Sonu Nigam), were joined behind the microphone by none other than Alka Yagnik.
