Although
annas aren’t used as a unit of currency in India, it continues to be used in a
few Hindi phrases, like Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya – a 2001 film,
whose title can be translated to, “While the income is 50 paise, the
expenditure’s Re 1”.
The film
had no memorable song, but its title track was probably the best-known number
on its soundtrack.
