was far from mast – Dil De Diya Hai.
That line, and the next couple of lines (which went, “Jaan tumhe denge, daga nahin karenge sanam”), were its hook.
It wasn’t just composed, but also rendered by Anand Raj Anand (twice the irony, because Anand is Hindi for happiness).
No prizes for guessing that the track, which became popular with the youth, was penned by the one and only Sameer.
